
Bo Spalding’s career began at The Atlanta Journal, where he covered government and business. In 1982, he joined Bank South Corporation in Atlanta. As senior vice president and director of public affairs and communications he was responsible for internal communications, media relations, investor relations, sponsorships and corporate philanthropy.
He co-founded Jackson Spalding in 1995 after working for a global public relations agency. In addition to his management role at Jackson Spalding, he works closely with clients, with special expertise in financial and banking services, speech writing and media, marketing and corporate identity strategies and issues management.
An Atlanta native, Bo is a trustee of the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation, Agnes Scott College and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home. He is chair-elect for Leadership DeKalb and serves on the executive committees for Agnes Scott and Catholic Charities Atlanta. In addition, he is on the boards of the Midtown Alliance and the Kiwanis Foundation of Atlanta, where he is vice-chair of investments. Bo also is a past president of the 250-member Kiwanis Club of Atlanta.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Georgetown University, as well as a bachelor’s in Journalism and a master’s in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He stays involved at UGA by serving on the Board of Visitors and as a Fellow of the UGA Grady School of Journalism.
Bo lives in Decatur with his wife, Melissa. They have three children: Daniel, Phinizy and Camille. A train enthusiast, Bo has been known to fly cross-country just to hop on a train and come home. He also enjoys running, movies, reading, music, skiing, eating popcorn and spending part of his summer on a peaceful Canadian lake.
